    Double Bowline

This makes the normal bowline even more secure and is recommended if the knot may get wet or subjected to rough use.

    1. Make a loop then bring the working end round to form a second loop.

    2. Turn the working end round again to pass through the two loops from behind.

    3. Pull the working end through the loops and up to lie next to the standing part.

    4. Take the working end round behind the standing part of the rope.

    5. Thread the working end back through the front of the two loops.

    6. Work the knot tight so the double loops grip the bight in the working end.
