Double Bowline
This makes the normal bowline even more secure and is recommended if the knot may get wet or subjected to rough use.
- Make a loop then bring the working end round to form a second loop.
- Turn the working end round again to pass through the two loops from behind.
- Pull the working end through the loops and up to lie next to the standing part.
- Take the working end round behind the standing part of the rope.
- Thread the working end back through the front of the two loops.
- Work the knot tight so the double loops grip the bight in the working end.
