Fixed Loop knot
Also called open hand eye knot or binders knot
A simple loop knot made by tying an overhand knot in a bight. Useful when tying parcels with string or thin cord but not much else as the knot jams tight and will generally need to be cut off.
- Form a long bight in the rope.
- Turn the top to form a loop over the standing part.
- Now pass the tip of the bight through the double loop from the back. Keep the adjacent cords parallel as you form the eye of the knot.
- Work the knot tight, leaving an suitably sized eye loop.
