    Fisherman’s Knot

The fisherman’s knot is actually a bend, used for joining two lengths of cord / rope. It is a simple but effective way of joining lines of equal diameter.

    1. Lay the working ends of the two lines side by side, but so they point in opposite directions.

    2. With the working end of one line start the first of the overhand knots around the second line.

    3. Complete the first overhand knot around the second line, leave slack enough for the second line to slide through.

    4. Start to make a second overhand knot with the second line around the first line.

    5. Take the working end completely around the first line and back through the loop to form the second overhand knot.

    6. Complete the knot so that both working ends point in opposite directions. Work both knots tight and snug up against each other. The working ends can be cut back if required.
