    Over hand knot

    (also called common, simple, single or thumb knot).

    One of the most basic of knots, it is the foundation of many more knots.

    1. Form a simple loop

    2. Pass the working end behind and through the loop.

    3. Begin to work the knot tight
      pull through
    4. As you work the knot tight, adjust it’s position to leave the required amount of working end.
