A bigger stopper knot than the overhand knot. Used by dockworkers to prevent the end of a rope pulling through an eye. A figure of eight knot with a extra full turn.
Make a long bight in the working end then twist the bight to form an eye loop.
Put a twist in the loop
Twist the eye loop again.
Now take the working end under the standing part.
Keeping the twists and the loop in place, bring the working end of the rope towards the eye loop. Pass the working end through the eye loop from the front and begin to work the twists of the knot up towards the loop.
Keep working the twists up snug as you pull the working end through the loop.
