The Timber hitch can be used for dragging timber, but is only secure under tension. By the addition of a half hitch this can become a killick hitch which keeps the timber in ilne as it is pulled along.

    1. Take a turn of the rope / cord around the log then loop the working end over the standing part and bring the end across.

    6. The Killick hitch is a continuation of the timber hitch. The standing part of the rope / cord now becomes the working end. Take the working end one turn around the log about halfway between the timber hitch and the end of the log.

    7. Pass the working end through under the standing part to form a half hitch. Making sure the loop and turns remain in place and the end is securely trapped. Take up the slack in the working end to finish the killick hitch.
