Figure of Eight Loop knot

This Fixed loop knot can be used if something is to be fitted through the loop.

Make a long narrow bight, the tip of which will form the eye of the loop.

Turn the bight and form a loop of two parallel lines.

Pass the bight over the standing part of the rope / cord.

Pass the eye loop round behind the standing and working end of the rope.

Thread the eye through the first loop from front to back.

Pull the tip of the eye through the upper loop and start to tighten the knot.

Work the knot tight, leaving the eye at the required size.
